Keep an orphan in school
In the mountain villages of Azilal, losing a parent too often means leaving school. Yatim Help gives orphaned children's families a monthly allowance so they can keep learning.
Education breaks the cycle of poverty
Morocco Foundation supports 10 schools in Azilal that give underprivileged children a quality education, some of them orphans. Many of these students are at risk of dropping out because their families can no longer cover the cost of schooling.
Yatim Help sponsors orphaned students in our partner schools so they can stay in class. A sponsorship helps pay for their education, books and other essentials, and it keeps the programme growing so we can reach more children in need.
We believe every child has the right to a quality education, whatever their background. With your help, orphans in Azilal can reach their full potential.
From school to family, every step is followed
Identification
Children are identified through our partner schools in the Bouantar and Ikerdan groups. Our local representative visits each mother and checks the paperwork before a family joins the programme.
A monthly allowance
Each sponsored family receives $60 to $100 a month, for the whole school year, to cover the basics a child needs to keep going to school.
Paid directly to the mother
Allowances are wired every month to a bank account opened in the mother's name, so the money reaches the household without intermediaries.
Follow-up at school
Sponsored children must stay in school. Every six months we collect their school certificate and report card, and our representative visits the family regularly.
You know exactly who you are helping
Donations work through a matching system. When you sponsor, we send you the details of the family you are matched with, and you commit to a minimum of $60 a month (about 600 MAD).
We then keep you updated on the family throughout the year, including the child's progress at school.

More than an allowance
Sponsored families are part of everything we do in their schools:
- 95 orphan families from our partner schools received a Ramadan food basket in 2022 – 2023.
- Warm winter kits, new school bags and supplies through our school caravans.
- Free dental and eye care during our medical caravans.
- Daily educational and artistic workshops run by the ABT-MF Academy.
The programme is run together with A Better Tomorrow and supported by our partner Yatim Help, a US non-profit that helps orphans in Morocco.
